Hiatuses of more than two weeks exempt you from AC requirements for one month. Hiatuses cannot be used back-to-back to avoid AC. If you need to take a longer hiatus than a single month's exemption, please contact a mod.

What happens ICly during my hiatus?: You have two options for a normal hiatus. The first is 'autopilot' hiatus: Your character is still around and doing normal things, you just don't thread anything out. (Use this option if you're taking a 'slowatus' or otherwise will be partially around during your hiatus.) The other option is that your character completely disappears to parts unknown for the duration of the hiatus.

Characters who disappear may find that something interesting happens to them while they're gone... Or they may find that nothing happens to them at all, and they return without even realizing they're gone. Hard to say.

CANON UPDATE

If you would like to update your character to a later point in their canon, please use the form below and post it to this entry with CANON UPDATE as the subject line. Canon updates have a mandatory "disappearance" hiatus of one week OOC/three days IC. You can continue responding to old threads during this time, but your character vanishes during this time.

Mods will approve or reject your canon update request within three days.

DROP

If you would like to drop a character from the game entirely, please fill out this form and post it with DROP as the subject line. Thank you for your time in our game!

If I ever re-app, can my character keep their memories/etc: Characters can be re-apped by the same player and retain their memories from their previous time in game. However, their things may be gone (unless an IC friend picked them up and is willing to return them), and the strength of their mark will be cut in half (rounded down).

What happens ICly when we drop?: Characters disappear. Through unknown means, it's known to the natives that they won't be returning any time soon. An unusually high number of lanterns wind up around their residence for three days (regardless of if another character is living there or not), somewhere between five and ten times the normal number. After that mourning/grace period, it's free-for-all on their stuff if no one else lives there. Native residents seem unsure whether or not this counts as 'death,' but err on the side of caution and avoid speaking the names of dropped characters.
